In most football clubs today, managers create and control the recruitment process. Overtime, it has been discovered that this approach has several weaknesses. Therefore, it is better to have a team create and regulate the recruitment process, rather than put the whole decision on one person. However, it is also crucial to note that when a decision is made on behalf of the club, all team members must cooperate to implement it.
To implement this approach successfully, there must be a clear line of authority within the club. Everyone must know their responsibilities. who is to report to them, and who they are to report to? Clubs must jettison the idea of agents meeting directly with the CEO, manager and the commercial department. There must be a group assigned to meeting with agents, and the club must agree to the recommendation of that team.
